In the fight against corona, more and more drugs for the treatment of Covid-19 after infection with the coronavirus are coming onto the market. One of them is “molnupiravir”, which has shown good results in a phase 3 study with placebo control.
“Around the turn of the year we will probably be using molnupiravir – for patients who are at risk of severe disease,” said Bernd Lamprecht, head of the pulmonary clinic at the Kepler University Hospital in Linz. The tablets are said to reduce this risk by 30 to 50 percent. The expert also expects the promising corona pill Paxlovid from Pfizer in the first quarter of 2022.
However, drugs are not an alternative to vaccination – not least because they can also have possible side effects.
