191 shops in prime locations around Landstrasse

“The Linzer Landstrasse and the city center are stable despite the strong competition from shopping centers on the outskirts, which is due to the balanced mix of industries and the coverage of short-term demand,” says Walter Wölfler, head of retail at the real estate service provider CBRE. The city center around the Landstrasse has 191 shops in prime locations.

The vacancy rate is low and has hardly changed in the previous year. Only in the south of Landstrasse towards the train station is there a higher concentration of vacancies, according to CBRE. The restaurants and the three inner-city shopping centers Linzerie, Passage and Atrium are the main sources of footfall in the city center.

At 31,000 euros, the purchasing power per capita in Linz is higher than in Vienna, Graz and Salzburg. Upper Austria’s state capital is characterized by higher productivity, but also by research and innovation, says Wölfler.
