Colorful figures with everything that nature has to offer, plus the impressive mountain panorama around Lake Grundlsee: The 64th Daffodil Festival in Ausseerland promises to be Austria’s largest flower festival again this year – even though the flowering of the star daffodils began too early this year due to the warm spring.

“Our parade participants obviously thought about something and demonstrated their creativity. We also had a similar situation in 2011,” says Rudolf Grill, chairman of the Narcissus Festival Association. “But we found more daffodils than we originally expected. So the Narcissus Festival does live up to its name.”
Highlight: Boat parade
Since Thursday, the Ausseerland has been all about the daffodils. The traditional highlight of the festival will take place tomorrow, Sunday, in the municipality of Grundlsee. From 9 a.m., guests can admire the artistically designed daffodil figures along the lake. The traditional boat parade on the Grundlsee begins at 2 p.m. “The venue for the daffodil festival has changed for three years and the three Ausseer municipalities take turns. After last year in Bad Aussee, where we only had a town parade, we are finally going back to the lake,” says Grill. And that will be the very special highlight of this weekend.
Early arrival advisable
On the festival Sunday, June 2nd, the event team recommends arriving in Ausseerland early, ideally between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Guests arriving by private car or bus will be directed to the free parking spaces. Free shuttle buses are available all day for direct transfer from the parking spaces to the Grundlsee event location. The Grundlseerstraße will be closed along the lake shore on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
When entering the festival grounds on Sunday, festival guests receive entry wristbands (admission to the Daffodil Festival for adults costs 17 euros), children up to the age of 15 can visit the Daffodil Festival for free.
