In front of thousands of spectators, the Austrian mixed duo won the World Team Challenge, which was relocated from the Arena AufSchalke to Ruhpolding, after a mass start competition and subsequent pursuit in very difficult conditions due to heavy rain. Second place went to Evgenia Burtasowa / Matwej Elisejew (Rus / + 56.8 seconds), third place went to Marketa Davidova / Michal Krcmar (Cze / + 59.7).
The decisive factor was Hauser / Leitner’s strong performance at the shooting range. Only two misses were by far the best result in the field of ten teams. After the mass start, the ÖSV duo was only fourth, 1: 22.1 minutes behind.
“In the second race the shooting was really good, that was the key to success,” said Hauser. For Austria they put on a “great performance”. Leitner was also enthusiastic. “We won, that’s fantastic. Lisa shot super in both races.”
