“Hamas confirms its willingness to deal positively and constructively with any proposal based on a ceasefire permanent and complete withdrawal (of Israeli forces) from the Gaza Strip, the reconstruction (of Gaza), and the return of the displaced to their places, together with the fulfillment of a genuine prisoner exchange agreement if the occupation announces clearly its commitment to this agreement,” the Palestinian group said in a statement.


Hamas’ response was released a few hours after Joe Biden’s announcement at the White House. The US president assured that the announced proposal is an agreement “that bring all the hostages home, guarantees Israel’s securitycreates a better life in Gaza without Hamas in power and sets the stage for a political agreement that provides a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
The conflict has been going on for eight months. Israel’s proposal announced by Biden has three phases. The first involves a cessation of the military offensive and the withdrawal of troops from the Gaza Strip for six weeks.
