Hunting in the Urfahr area is becoming younger and more female

URFAHR AREA. After an intensive six-month training in theory and practice, 57 hunting course participants took the hunting exam over four days. A total of 43 interested young hunters, including ten women, successfully passed this demanding exam, the “Green Matura”. The theoretical exam requires comprehensive knowledge of native game species, ecology, conservation measures, hunting dogs, agriculture and forestry and nature conservation. The Upper Austrian Hunting Act, EU law, hunting traditions and the correct use of the high-quality regional foodstuff game meat round off the theoretical part of the exam. The practical part of the exam focuses on the professional and safe handling of hunting weapons.

At the same time, some hunters successfully completed their training and examination to become sworn hunting protection officers as auxiliary officers of the authorities. Hunting in the Urfahr area is becoming increasingly popular, with younger and more female hunters. The hunting community has been growing steadily for years, and there are currently 1,250 active hunters in the district.
