He president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukelebegan his second term this Saturday after winning the elections on February 5. At an official event in National Palace of El Salvador, Bukele was sworn in to assume the presidency for the period 2024-2029. In this way, he becomes the first president to govern the Central American country for a second consecutive term since the current Constitution was promulgated in 1983, which prohibits immediate re-election in several of its articles.
The Salvadoran leader was able to run for elections after a six-month leave and had the approval of the judges of the Constitutional Chamber.

After the swearing-in, Bukele addressed a few words to the Salvadoran people from the balcony of the Palace. “It is a Government recognized by 100% of the countries in the world. Everyone recognizes this government despite what the opponents say“, the president began.
And continued: “This is the most important moment in our recent history. Finally we conquered fear and we are a free country. “We achieved the unimaginable and we have done it here with the glory of God.”
Bukele’s inauguration speech: praise for his wife and the changes in security
The inauguration speech was also accompanied by praise for his wife Gabrielawho accompanied him on the balcony: “She finds time to be the best first lady our country has ever had, working tirelessly for women, children and culture,” said the president and ironically: “in addition to all that, she still has “I have to find the strength to support myself.”

“We did it with our own recipe, our own police, our soldiers, with the collaboration of our own people and with the help of God,” continued the president and He stated that El Salvador “is the safest country in the entire Western Hemisphere with an 87% reduction in homicides.”
“What has happened in the country are 20 miracles together, through the work of God, the Government and the efforts of the Salvadoran people,” Bukele insisted regarding his government’s fight against the gangs that “functioned as a parallel government.” as determined by the leader. “We can make the same change now in the economy,” he promised.
To conclude, the Salvadoran president asked those present to raise their hands and repeat with him the following words: “We swear to unconditionally defend our Nation project, following each of the steps to the letter, without complaining, asking for wisdom of God so that our country is blessed again with another miracle. World leaders attended Bukele’s inauguration
The leaders of the world arrived at the National Palace to participate in the swearing-in ceremony. Nayib Bukele. Among them, the presidents gave the present Javier Mileifrom Argentina; Daniel Noboa, from Ecuador; and Santiago Penafrom Paraguay.
