The former Secretary of the Presidency and presidential candidate for the National Party (PN), Álvaro Delgadodefended the “achievements” and work of the government and stated that it “is for the Uruguay and not for the whites”, in reference to the nationalist militants.

This Sunday, within the framework of a campaign tour through the city of Minas (Lavalleja), the favorite to stay with the PN internal party—according to various surveys—praised the current government management of which he was a part and criticized the legacy of successive administrations of the PN. Broad Front (FA).

“Today we have less fiscal deficit than in 2019, it is for everyone, today we have the largest real salary in 49 years and it is not for whites, it is for Uruguayans,” Delgado emphasized at an event held in the street.

“Today we have the highest economic score in the history of the Uruguayand it is for him Uruguay, it’s not for white people. Today we are working on settlements, 70,000 Uruguayans are going to end up with decent housing than the 218,000 that the FA left us, and they are not white, they are Uruguayans who need it,” the candidate continued.

Along the same lines, he praised the work of Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) in terms of road connectivity: “Today we have more routes than they did in 50 years of history, and it is for Uruguayans and not for whites.”

Likewise, he highlighted the achievements of the educational reform, the social security reform, and the SBI which will allow sanitation to be implemented in 61 locations in the interior of the country.

Álvaro Delgado seeks to reaffirm his leadership in the internal election

After speaking to his militancy, the politician highlighted through his X account the importance of winning the next internal election, where he has the economist Laura Raffo as the main adversary, in order to “secure a next coalition government.”

According to the latest survey carried out by Cifra, Delgado has a voting intention of 62% within the PN, ahead of Raffo, who has 23%, and the senator Jorge Gandiniwhich reaches 6%.
