All those who have celebrated their 18th birthday since the beginning of the year and are registered in Austria can take advantage of the offer, the Ministry of the Environment said on Monday. The ticket is then valid for one year – the start date can be freely chosen between the 18th and one day before the 21st birthday.

The aim of this campaign is to make using public transport even more attractive. After leaving school or completing training, the need for mobility changes, and at the same time free travel for schoolchildren or apprentices is expiring. Around 88,000 people are now eligible each year. Department head Leonore Gewessler (Greens): “I hope that the free Climate Ticket Austria will become a piece of freedom for as many young people as possible.”
