Venezuelan businessman Majed Khalil on Tuesday, December 28, filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of New York against former lawyer of former US President Donald Trump Sidney Powell and Fox television, accusing them of libel about the Venezuelan’s involvement in rigging the 2020 presidential election. Khalil demanded $ 250 million in damages.
The accusatory document says former Fox political commentator Lou Dobbs and Powell claimed that Khalil was involved in creating Smartmatic election software and hardware that was allegedly used to hide votes during the 2020 presidential election. The plaintiff indicated that at the time he had no connection with Smartmatic and was not familiar with the creation of election software.
The Venezuelan businessman said the defendants falsely attributed to him a leadership role in a never-existed operation, which they portrayed as “Cyber Pearl Harbor” and “electoral 9/11”.
In the lawsuit, he notes that he never participated in any elections in the United States. The document also states that neither Powell nor Dobbs contacted Khalil before pressing their charges.
Earlier, Trump’s lawyer, refusing to come to terms with his defeat in the election, put forward the theory of electoral fraud in the interests of the winning Democratic candidate Joe Biden using automatic voting systems and the participation of unfriendly America Venezuela.
On February 4, technical voting and counting company Smartmatic filed a $ 2.7 billion lawsuit against Fox News and its three hosts, Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro. According to the document, the presenters “perpetuated lies and misinformation about Smartmatic’s role in the elections,” thereby damaging the company’s business and reputation.
The US presidential election was held on November 3. The former head of the White House, Donald Trump, is convinced that the voting process was carried out with numerous violations and falsifications in favor of the Democrats. Trump’s attempts to sue to block the electoral vote have failed.
