The export of soy continues to recover and, in the months of April and May, it doubled its numbers compared to last year – a time that was crossed by a drought devastating that affected the entire production system – with a total of 318 million dollars with 875 tons sold.

The billing of the soy managed to exceed last year’s by 60% with a total of 381 million dollars in the last two months. According to information from the Customs, This meant that the value of each ton was around $436.

Meanwhile, the volume exported represented a total of 875 while in 2023 there were 435. The decrease in supply due to the drought that affected the production system caused last year’s prices to be higher by $550 per ton, 26% more than this year’s.

Far from the record

Despite not having gone through a drought, The agricultural sector had to face floods that compromised its harvest and logistics. In that sense, if we compare it with the year 2022 where there was a record of production and export, a total of 1.2 million tons were marketed at that time.

For its part, foreign exchange income in 2022 represented 735 million dollars in April and May, at an average per ton of 612 dollars. With this, a total of $2.2 billion was raised throughout 2022.

Soybeans remain on the export podium
