Police dog Cox deserves a special treat: The German shepherd tracked down a Romanian thief who was hiding in total darkness. The 20-year-old, who has already been convicted, was responsible for several thefts together with his father. Numerous bicycles were confiscated.

At 2:20 a.m., a local resident reported two suspicious people in Hörsching who were loading bicycles into a van. The van had a foreign license plate.
After an immediate search was launched, the suspicious vehicle was stopped. There were two men in the car – the younger man, who was sitting in the passenger seat, jumped out of the van and fled. Police dog Cox immediately started tracking him.
“Not easy on the asphalt”
“Although it was not easy for the dog to sniff out the perpetrator on the asphalt, Cox was able to catch the fugitive a short time later on a fenced-in property,” says Ulrike Handlbauer from the State Police Directorate. The man was lying well hidden and out of sight horizontally under a hedge.
A quad bike, e-scooters, numerous bicycles and items of clothing with price tags that had recently been reported stolen were confiscated from the van.
Both men were arrested. They are a father (40) and son (20), both from Romania. The younger man had already been convicted of theft and similar crimes about a month ago.
