The fire apparently started in the garbage room in the entrance area and spread over the courtyard and facade to the top floor. The residents of the fourth and fifth floors had to be evacuated by the emergency services, said Deputy Mayor Johannes Anzengruber (ÖVP), who is responsible for security. Nobody got hurt.

In the late afternoon, the fire was under control after a large-scale operation by the fire brigade. The roof is currently being opened to view and combat hot spots. The streets around the house were largely cordoned off. Thick clouds of smoke could be seen over the city center.

There is a residential and nursing home right next to the affected building. It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to the home, but it was affected by the smoke development. A large-scale evacuation and evacuation of the home is not necessary from the current perspective, according to the city. Substitute accommodation would be available in the worst-case scenario. The Innsbrucker Professional fire brigade, the Reichenau, Mühlau and Hötting volunteer fire brigades, as well as ambulance and police with several vehicles.
