The smart speaker Amazon Echo offered a ten-year-old girl a deadly way to entertain herself. Her mother Christine Livdahl wrote about this on her Twitter account.
According to the woman, her daughter asked the device with the voice assistant Alexa for some task. The column “told” the girl about a certain challenge that she found on the Internet.
“The task is simple: insert the phone charger into an outlet about halfway, and then place a coin on the open contacts,” advised Alexa.
The mother was there and intervened. At the same time, the girl herself noted that she was “intelligent enough not to do something like that.”
Earlier, in May 2019, it was reported that the American tech company Amazon was developing a device capable of reading human emotions. It was noted that they plan to equip the device with microphones that will be connected to software that can determine the emotional state of the owner by voice, as well as give advice on effective interaction with others.
A month earlier, it became known that Amazon employees daily listen to about a thousand voice commands from users of their “smart” Echo speakers and voice assistant Alexa. The company stressed that they treat the safety and privacy of their users responsibly and do this only to improve the voice recognition function.
