A 60-year-old man from the Braunau district was riding his moped on agricultural land at around 4 p.m., at walking pace according to his own account. His five-year-old grandson was sitting on the luggage rack. Neither of them was wearing a helmet.
On a slightly sloping gravel road, the five-year-old’s foot got caught in the spokes of the rear wheel and the tire blocked. The grandfather immediately stopped the moped and administered first aid. The emergency doctor treated the injured boy, who was then flown to the regional hospital in Salzburg.
