VP senior citizens’ union boss Ingrid Korosec urges more truthfulness in the cost of pensions. For years there has been talk of a pension hole and the allegedly expensive old people, but the figures are falsified.
Numerous cross-financings are included in the calculation of the state subsidy for pensions. While there is always talk of a state grant of 21.4 billion euros, it is actually only 16.2 billion euros, said Korosec. Replacement times for childcare and the armed forces, compensation payments for the poor, contributions for civil servants and care allowance are incorrectly included.
Korosec wants to focus next year on the employment of the over 55-year-olds. Here there must be more flexible working time models, the labor market service should take better care of the placement of older people. Korosec finds it worrying that 60 percent do not work until they retire, but are intercepted by the welfare system years beforehand.
She calls for more incentives to work longer. People who work beyond retirement should receive a six percent bonus, for early retirees the discounts should be increased to six percent. In addition, the pension contributions of working seniors are to be reduced. (gana)
