The attempt to cycle home after consuming several alcoholic drinks did not end well for two men from the Vöcklabruck district: The 40-year-old and the 68-year-old collided on the cycle path that connects the B145 and Johannes Kepler Street at around 9:10 p.m. on Friday evening. Both fell after the collision.
The older man sustained such serious injuries that he had to be taken to the Salzkammergut Clinic in Vöcklabruck, police reported on Saturday. It turned out that both cyclists had been “fueling up” beforehand. A breathalyzer test on the 40-year-old showed a reading of 1.56 per mille. A preliminary test for the 68-year-old was positive, but a test with the calibrated device was no longer possible due to injuries. Both men will be reported to the Vöcklabruck district police station, police said.
Localization: The accident occurred on the connecting cycle path from the B145 to Johannes Kepler-Straße
