The Carinthian State Police Directorate confirmed this in response to an APA inquiry. The young woman had been missing since Saturday. She is believed to have fallen near the saddle at Trogkofel (2,280 metres above sea level) in the Carnic Alps; the exact cause of death is still being determined. Her body was flown down the valley by a police helicopter.
The woman had wanted to meet a friend on Saturday, but had not shown up as agreed. The 38-year-old man then raised the alarm. According to the police, the hiker had spent the night in her car in a parking lot on the Rudnigalm at around 1,600 meters above sea level near Hermagor from Friday to Saturday. In the morning she had set out for a walk, but had not returned.
