The boy’s grandfather had tipped a car trailer backwards to make repairs. The child grabbed hold of the towing device and leaned on it in an unobserved moment, causing the vehicle to tip over. The “Christophorus 14” rescue helicopter flew the injured man to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Kirchdorf Clinic for treatment. The child suffered serious chest injuries.

The 59-year-old grandfather was still nearby and was able to partially catch the drawbar, the police reported in a press release. He had been repairing the car trailer in the driveway of his house. To make it easier to work, he tipped the trailer backwards so that the drawbar was pointing upwards, while his grandson played nearby.
