The accidental death of a 16-year-old on Sattledter Strasse in the Steinerkirchner village of Linden has caused an uproar among the residents who live there. “We have repeatedly pointed out the particular number of accidents at this intersection. Apart from the installation of larger stop signs, nothing has been done so far,” says Harald Scheureder, who lives right next to the death intersection, annoyed.
Neighbors set up an initiative
Last year, after the accidental death of a pensioner, he collected signatures from neighbors and started a petition. In a letter to the BH Wels-Land and the state’s traffic department, the residents demanded that the intersection should be sustained and measures taken against the increasing traffic load: “To date, the responsible authorities have not taken a single direct traffic-calming measure at this difficult intersection,” explains Scheureder.

Now you are at the end of your patience: “It’s enough. We don’t want any more deaths. We are setting up a citizens’ initiative to prevent even more traffic fatalities,” says the local spokesman.
A truck from the same major Edter freight forwarder was always involved in the three most serious traffic accidents in recent years. The youngest fatality from Pettenbach was the co-driver of the driver involved in the accident. The 18-year-old driver who was brought to the clinic after the intersection crash presumably violated the priority. In August of the previous year, the 76-year-old driver of a moped car died. The woman had collided with a truck. The day before, a tractor-trailer had crashed into the facade of an inn.
