Russia has always advocated increasing humanitarian ties with the United States. This statement was made by the Deputy Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Chumakov on Wednesday, December 29.

“In a difficult international situation, it is humanitarian ties that are called upon to unite us. Russia has always advocated increasing contacts along this line, ”Chumakov said, speaking at a memorial event in memory of the victims of the Tu-154 plane crash near Sochi in 2016.

According to him, even in a pandemic, cultural contacts do not stop.

“In a sense, they are even increasing, because the coronavirus has taught us new formats,” – the words of the deputy head of the RIA Novosti report.

Chumakov noted that the tragic event with the plane of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation united the two nations, and added that “the moment will come when we will feel unity and without any accompanying tragedies.”

On December 25, 2016, a Russian Tu-154 aircraft flew to Syria from Moscow and crashed shortly after refueling in Sochi. There were 92 people on board. Among them were 64 artists of the Alexandrov ensemble, nine employees of Russian television channels (Channel One, NTV and Zvezda), as well as the head of the Spravedlivaya Pomoshch charity, Elizaveta Glinka, known as Doctor Liza.

The examinations carried out in the case of the Tu-154 crash of the Ministry of Defense completely ruled out the version of the explosion on board. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, 156 people were recognized as victims in the criminal case.
