“This government is basically finished,” said Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) on Monday and called for immediate new elections in Germany.
Even if they were added together, the three parties in the traffic light coalition would have just as many votes as the CDU/CSU, the winners of the EU elections (30 percent, note), said Söder during a visit by an Upper Austrian delegation to Munich in response to a request from the OÖN. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is now an emperor without a country. Söder fears that the traffic light coalition would “sit out and do nothing” for the year until the next regular federal election. But that “promotes the radical parties”.

AfD delegation excludes Krah
Meanwhile, EU top candidate Maximilian Krah will not be part of the AfD’s future delegation to the EU Parliament, as part of the far-right AfD party, which came second with 15.9 percent. The newly elected members of parliament voted on Monday for a motion not to include Krah.
The right-wing populist group Identity and Democracy (ID) recently excluded all AfD members from the group – despite the FPÖ’s dissenting votes. One of the reasons given for this was Krah’s trivializing statements about the Nazi SS in an interview. Krah himself wants to enter the EU Parliament despite the AfD delegation’s decision. He believes the decision is wrong.
In contrast to Krah, Petr Bystron, second on the list, will be part of the future AfD delegation. Bystron is being investigated for bribery and money laundering, among other things. He is suspected of having accepted money from Russia.
