It was wandering all alone through the old town of Melk: On Sunday evening, passers-by noticed a swan chick that had obviously lost its family. Officers from the Loosdorf police station were alerted to a “lost duck” and were amazed when they found the week-old swan in the streets of the town center.
However, despite an intensive search, the parents could not be found. “The nest of the young animal was probably washed away by the heavy rain,” said the Lower Austrian police. To be on the safe side, the fluffy foundling was taken to the police station, where employees of the Mostpfoten-Hilfe animal rescue service later took care of its further care.
