From January 6th to 9th, bird lovers can watch and count the feathered animals for an hour and report their results to the bird protection organization BirdLife Austria. The so-called “Hour of the Winter Birds” is taking place for the 13th time.
The bird counts focus on the bird species that are familiar to us and that persevere in snow and cold and spend the winter here in Austria. The following questions are answered: Where do they occur? Where have they become common and where have they become rare? How does the current weather affect the winter birds?
No prior knowledge is required, because with the instructions, every bird lover can count the feathered friends around the bird feeder in their own garden, in the park or on the balcony. You can also find tips for bird identification in the photo gallery.
