Climate protection from civil society in Gmunden

Christian Auer could have put his feet up long ago. The Gmunden native has been retired since November of last year, having previously worked for many years in capital goods marketing for a trading company. But Auer has not been able to really switch off yet. Because climate protection is even more important to him than his retirement. And because the idea of climate neutrality by 2040 is slowly becoming less realistic. So he started studying again: sustainability communication and climate journalism. An academic course in Graz. At the same time, he also became active in his home country: Auer founded the Forum for Climate Protection in Gmunden. No activists who act with a crowbar in front of the curtain. Auer and his colleagues prefer to work on raising awareness in the community. And if necessary, they also roll out banners – most recently in the Gmunden municipal council when the Orter Wiese was rezoned as a special building land area.

The aim is to create a platform for issues of regional climate protection and for critical discussions about them, independent of party political interests.

The next opportunity will be on Thursday, June 13th in the town hall: From 6.30 p.m., Friedrich Feichtinger will speak about the energy transition in Austria. How big is the problem really? What alternatives are there? Admission is free. (geg)
