Ukrainians have the right to independently decide which unions to join their country. This statement was made by the President of Estonia Alar Karis on Wednesday, December 29.
“Despite the ongoing hostilities in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainians remain supporters of reforms, continuing their efforts to integrate into the European Union. This is a country where democratic values are valued, and Estonia supports Ukraine’s aspirations for the European Union and the right of Ukrainians to decide which unions they want to join, ”his words from a meeting in Tallinn with EU Ambassador to Ukraine Matti Maasikas were transmitted to ERR.
The interlocutors agreed that if Russia goes into an armed conflict with Ukraine, then the security of all of Europe will be in jeopardy.
“It is important to continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” Karis said in this regard.
He also stressed that Estonia highly appreciates the EU’s activities in Ukraine.
Alar Karis plans to visit Ukraine in early 2022.
