A car driver apparently lost control of his vehicle while attempting to swerve on the Lerchenfelder Gürtel and ended up on the sidewalk. Several people who were standing in front of a bar were hit by the car. A total of five men were injured, the Vienna Emergency Services reported in a press release on Thursday.
Bone fractures
The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. The car came off the road shortly after the intersection with Thaliastrasse. A 24-year-old, a 40-year-old and a 46-year-old man suffered serious injuries. They were given first aid and stabilized by teams from the Vienna professional rescue service. All three were taken to hospital emergency rooms with suspected multiple bone fractures.
Two other passers-by suffered minor bruises. The 25-year-old and the 48-year-old were given first aid by a Green Cross team and taken to hospital.
