Brussels wants more information from sex and porn platforms on child protection

The Brussels authority made a request for information on Thursday on the basis of a new EU law for digital services (Digital Services Act DSA), it announced.

According to the report, the Pornhub, Stripchat and XVideos platforms should, among other things, provide more information about the measures they are taking to better protect minors and prevent the spread of illegal content and gender-based violence. The Commission is demanding information on how the pornographic platforms check age.

Authority can impose fine

Pornhub, Stripchat and XVideos must provide the requested information by July 4. The Commission will determine the next steps based on the answers. If the company provides false, incomplete or misleading information or refuses to answer the questions, the authority can impose fines.

The Digital Services Act (DSA) is intended, among other things, to ensure that platforms remove illegal content from their sites more quickly than before. In turn, it will make it easier for users to report such content. In principle, large services have to follow more rules than small ones.
