As a fan, you know what a fan would like at major sporting events. Martin Siebermair, manager of the Bergschlössl on Froschberg in Linz, is a fan. “Every major football and tennis tournament is very important to me,” says the 43-year-old, who sometimes plans his day around the broadcasts of the games, if that’s possible.
More on the subject: Everything is ready for the European Football Championship in the fan zones
In the Bergschlössl, which he brought back to life more than a year ago, he had in mind a “small grandstand solution” for everyone to watch the European Football Championship, which begins today. After the license, feasibility and costs were clear, Siebermair found the right zone for “public viewing” at the EURO in the area behind the new part of the Schlössl.
There is room for around 200 people in deck chairs, on beer benches and on a small raised grandstand. All games are broadcast on a seven-square-meter screen, and there is also a catering service from 5 p.m. Admission is free. Reserve your seat by calling 0677/61 45 71 61 or emailing office@dasbergschloessl.at
Cinema under the stars
There will also be a program when the EURO footballers are not active: on days when there are no games, from June 28th, the public viewing arena will be used as an evening “cinema under the stars”. “Light stuff” such as “Greece” or the three “Monsieur Claude” films are on the program. Anyone interested can find all the details at www.dasbergschloessl.at, admission costs ten euros.
Other locations in Linz
The Bergschlössl is of course not the only place in Linz where people watch football together. Public viewings are available, for example, in the Sandcastleat ” Aunt Käthe” and in the CAP. In addition, many venues offer the opportunity to watch the games on screens or TVs, such as the ” Rox music bar“, the ” Joseph Linz” or that ” Glorious Bastards” in the Promenaden Galerien. They have come up with a special offer: for every red card, a round of Zwickl-Seiterl is on the house.

Of course, people aren’t just watching together in Linz. The OÖNachrichten has an incomplete overview of where else the European Championships can be seen.
