Maintenance work is required on the supporting structure of the 60-year-old Mauthausen Danube Bridge. This was the result of a technical inspection. Accordingly, structural components must be reinforced. The corrosion protection was removed from the damaged areas this week. Extensive welding work is planned on the bridge supporting structure from Monday to Friday next week.
In order to have as little impact on traffic flow as possible, these activities will take place during the night between 7:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. – outside of peak traffic times. The welding work will result in short-term traffic stops and waiting times, as the work requires a bridge that is as vibration-free as possible. The execution of the welding work is also heavily dependent on the weather.
