New roundabout exit should relieve the community.

As reported, the long-awaited construction of the third section of the Eferding bypass will begin this year. This will relieve residents in Pupping and Karling (municipality of Hartkirchen) of through traffic.

There was and is criticism in Aschach because the bypass is being led into the station settlement, from where the traffic then flows over the Danube bridge into the Mühlviertel. How the residents will be protected is still an open question. “It will probably be in the direction of noise barriers,” says Aschach’s mayor Dietmar Groiss (SP). The municipality has submitted its wishes for resident protection measures to the state of Upper Austria. “We were promised that when work on the last section of the bypass begins, there will be planning resources for the resident protection measures,” says Groiss. It is not easy there because there is little space.

In order to relieve residents of heavy traffic, the municipality would also like to see the Aschach industrial area developed differently and no longer via Bahnhofstrasse. The aim is to have companies such as Agrana reachable directly from the bypass via their own roundabout exit. “We are sitting at a table with the companies and the municipality of Hartkirchen and will propose a route,” says Mayor Groiss. However, the municipality would not be able to finance this road, which runs through a water and well protection area. The state has, however, promised support. (krai)
