For more than six months, the Working World Museum was one of Upper Austria’s presentation locations. State exhibition “Work, Prosperity, Power”. After the necessary renovation work and lockdown, the Working World Museum will open on Tuesday, January 4th, with the new exhibition “Made in Steyr”. In the first week, special programs for families and children are offered at the end of the holiday.
After the success and the great interest in the state exhibition, the Museum Arbeitswelt decided to show a slightly adapted version of the exhibition until June. “Made in Steyr” tells the story of the working people, of their wishes, dreams, fears and goals. The exhibition gives insights into everyday working life, family life and the diverse challenges that you have faced in Steyr since the middle of the 19th century.
In the first week of the exhibition, several public tours for adults, young people and children are offered free of charge, only the entrance fee has to be paid. On the opening day, especially the youngest can discover the exhibition on their own guided tour for children and families at 11 a.m. Another guided tour for children and families will take place on January 6th at 2 p.m. A public guided tour for adults is planned on January 8th at 2 p.m.
Research and discovery
In addition to the guided tours, there are a few items on the program to discover the exhibition and the Wehrgraben district. At the entrance to the exhibition, the story booklet and the action pass are available for children, with which the exhibition can be explored in a fun and entertaining way. If you prefer to be outdoors, you can get a free map at the museum’s cash desk, with which the moat can be explored in the form of a rally.
The Gallery of Remembrance will continue to be open to groups and individual visitors. The memorial tells the story of National Socialism in Steyr. Particular attention is paid to personal accounts of former forced laborers and concentration camp prisoners, whose fate is the focus of the show.
