The serious accident occurred at 4:10 p.m. Two young cyclists were on the Langholzfeld cycle path in the direction of Plus City. According to the police, they crossed a pedestrian crossing despite the red light and the tram being visibly approaching. Despite the tram driver immediately applying the brakes, the tram was unable to stop in time. One of the boys, a 14-year-old Romanian from the Linz-Land district, was hit head-on. He was thrown several meters away and remained lying there with serious injuries.

Search for second cyclist

The tram driver and a few passengers provided first aid, according to the police. The second boy fled. The injured 14-year-old was conscious and was taken to the Linz University Hospital after receiving emergency medical treatment. According to the Red Cross, he suffered serious injuries. These are believed to be head injuries.

A 30-year-old passenger was thrown forward by the emergency braking and suffered minor head injuries. He is also in the Linz UKH.

The search for the escaped friend is still ongoing.
