The member of the National Party (PN) and mayor of the municipality of Waldensian Colony (Cologne), Andres Malandied this Sunday morning at the age of 52 after suffering a sudden decompensation while doing his usual physical exercise routine.
According to the local media Radio del Oeste, the nationalist politician suddenly became unwell and had to request the assistance of a mobile emergency. After the arrival of the unit, Malán was transferred to a local private medical center, where his death was confirmed.
Malán had been elected mayor in the 2020 departmental elections for list 12 of the PN, a sector led by Ricardo Planchón Geymonatwhile last year he announced his incorporation into the ranks of the Mayor Carlos Moreirathrough list 3904.

The sudden death of the Colonian politician sparked heartfelt messages from actors in the ranks of the National Party and some state organizations through X (formerly Twitter).
From the white party, they expressed a heartfelt message for the loss of one of their members: “We express our deepest condolences for the death of the mayor, Andrés Malán, of Colonia Valdense. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and the entire community in this moment of pain.
From the Congress of Mayors and the Plenary of Municipalities of Uruguay They “deeply” regretted the death of the leader and extended their greetings to his family and friends at this difficult time.
The former Secretary of the Presidency and presidential candidate for the PN, Alvaro Delgadonoted: “We are very sorry for the death of the mayor of Colonia Valdense, Andrés Malán. Greetings to his loved ones. RIP.”
The president of the PN Board of Directors, Macarena Rubio, sent his “sincere condolences to his family, his friends and his beloved community.” Also, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment (MA), Gerardo Amarilla, expressed his “deep pain” for the death of Malán. “May God comfort the family,” he added.
