Up to ten people can celebrate without 2G proof

As at Christmas, the lockdown for unvaccinated people will also be relaxed from New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day. People without valid 2G proof are allowed to go outside to celebrate. Up to ten people can come together in closed rooms regardless of the 2G proof. Once everyone has been vaccinated or recovered, up to 25 people can take part in a private party. Attention: You must wear a mask indoors.

The gastronomy, in which of course the 2G rule still applies, closes at 10 p.m. After that, take-away sales are possible. Alcoholic beverages may only be sold in sealed bottles or cans.

As reported, most of the official New Year’s Eve celebrations have been canceled, and public fireworks will also be dispensed with. Because of the spreading, highly contagious Omicron variant, it is strongly recommended that you behave carefully and responsibly.

The number of people in Upper Austria who are verifiably infected with the Omikron variant has jumped from 99 to 236 from the day before yesterday to yesterday. 65 of them have already recovered. The good news: As the country’s crisis team announced yesterday, there was no one infected with Omikron who needed a hospital bed.

The number of new infections rose only slightly from Wednesday to Thursday: from 420 to 435. Yesterday the number of infected people in Upper Austria was 3,197. The number of deposits in hospitals remained stable. 65 were in a normal ward, 54 required intensive medical treatment. No deaths were reported in Upper Austria yesterday. Twelve more deaths were registered nationwide. Before the turn of the year, Upper Austria had a seven-day incidence of 130, which is the lowest nationwide. The average incidence in Austria is 186, the highest in Tyrol with 308, followed by Vienna with 240. The current R number was calculated by AGES and the Technical University of Graz: It is 0.91 and is thus below the critical number one . A week ago, the R number was reported as 0.81.

Lockdown extended

The lockdown for unvaccinated people will apply again from January 2nd. Yesterday this measure was extended until January 10th. That was decided yesterday by the main committee of the National Council with the votes of the VP, Greens and SP. It was also decided that all vaccination certificates issued on the basis of a single vaccination (“Johnson & Johnson”) lose their validity on January 3rd.
