The Perg School Center middle school presented itself as a place of learning, personal development and the coexistence of different cultures at a ceremony on Friday to mark its 50th anniversary. 165 pupils – divided into nine classes – are currently being prepared for their further education or entry into the job market by 28 teachers under the direction of director Michaela Oberleitner at the school on Waidhoferstrasse.
When the school was officially founded as a “Hauptschule II” in the autumn of 1974, lessons were still held in the elementary school building on Mozartstrasse. Sometimes under adventurous conditions, as a look back at the anniversary ceremony showed: the five classes at the time were sometimes taught in shower rooms, changing rooms, gyms and even in the corridors, as there was an acute lack of space. This was not to change until the end of the 1977/78 school year: the school moved with twelve classes into the new school building in the school center. Initially without gyms: These were to follow six years later with the opening of the neighboring district sports hall.
In addition to guests of honour from politics and school administration as well as former teachers, a delegation from the Franz-von-Lenbach secondary school in Schrobenhausen was also present at the anniversary celebration: the Lower Bavarians helped to close the festival with their brass band.
