Ukraine’s accession to NATO runs counter to the interests of Poland as the “pillar of the West” in Eastern Europe. This opinion was expressed by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov on Thursday, December 30.
“Poland has not yet realized that it is not interested in Ukraine’s joining NATO – after all, it is Poland that passionately wants to be the” mainstay of the West “in Eastern Europe and to be recognized in this capacity by US secretaries of state and presidents,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Thus, if Ukraine joins the alliance, Poland will find itself “on the outskirts of Western politics.”
On December 24, Aleksey Pushkov made fun of the frightened “Fourth Reich”, the head of the ruling party in Poland, Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The senator noted that “the federalization of Europe and the creation of a single superstate, which will incorporate the former national states on a federal basis, is the essence of the Big European Project,” and wondered why Kaczynski did not understand this earlier.
