Likewise, a 4,000-square-meter parking lot will be built on the site, with a total capacity to house about 150 vehicles, and the cargo transportation area, a sector of 36,000 square meters, will be paved in concrete, contemplating a specific area for vehicle inspection. livestock and dangerous cargo.

“The face of a modern, clean and efficient Uruguay”

In October 2023, the then Minister of Defense, Javier Garciastated that the project seeks to achieve “an entry into the country through the border crossing that is the face of a Uruguay modern, clean and efficient” and that it will become “a very important pole of work convergence in the city of Fray Bentos.”

At that time, it was specified that the work would cost about 12 million dollars plus taxes, and that the first stage would take about 400 days, implying the creation of 240 direct and indirect jobs.
