After four successful events of the Mühlviertler Hügelwelt Classic, which was a race for the Austrian cycling league, the organizers from the veloKW association, led by Richard Obereder, Thomas Umhaller, Jonas Haider and Mayor Roland Gaffl, now want to go one step further with the title fights.

It starts tomorrow (from 3 p.m., starting at the market square) with the individual time trial. In the women’s race, the expected top duel will take place between the world-class riders Schweinberger and Kiesenhofer, while in the men’s race, Felix Großschartner, the noble assistant of cycling superstar Tadej Pogacar in the UAE team, will have to assert himself against strong riders such as Patrick Gamper, Tobias Bayer and Felix Ritzinger in a battle against the clock. One lap on the B124 is 11.8 kilometers and 140 meters in elevation, and both women and men have to complete it twice.

Inclusion in cycling will also be demonstrated in the Mühlviertel. Paracyclists will also be taking part in the time trial competitions on Friday. The two-time Paralympic handbike winner Walter Ablinger, who will end his great career at the end of the year, will be cycling one last time in his home country. Wolfgang Steinbichler, a medal hope for the Summer Games in Paris, will also be taking part, as will Upper Austria’s best lady Elisabeth Egger.

On Saturday (from 9 a.m.) a race for the “Austrian Pumptrack Series” will be held to celebrate the opening of the new Freedolin pump track facility. Participation is possible from the age of 18 onwards.

The biggest highlight of the weekend will be the road races on Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. The hilly landscape will give the aces a real challenge. The men will have to cover 149.1 kilometers and 3,150 meters of altitude, while the women will have to overcome 85.2 kilometers and 1,800 meters of altitude. “As there are several laps, there is constant action on the market square,” says Obereder from the organizing team.
