US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken posted on his Twitter playlists of his favorite 2021 songs on Friday, December 31st.
The Foreign Minister posted two lists of songs: in one only American singers, in the other – foreign performers.
“Music brings people together – it crosses borders and everything else that can divide us. At the end of 2021, I am sharing some of my favorite songs released this year (or recently) by artists around the world. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. ” wrote he.
There are 36 tracks in the world playlist On the Road. Among them are the song of the Canadian singer The Weeknd – Save Your Tears, the Belgian artist Stromae – Santé, the British singers Adele and Dua Lipa, and other tracks from around the world. There is also a song in Russian on this list – “On a Break” by the Uzbek singer Sevara Nazarkhan.
The American playlist of the head of the State Department “For Home” (At Home) 17 songs, such as Taylor Swift, Diana Ross and the group Haim, as well as Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber.
“Part of my job is to promote people’s diplomacy and build ties with other countries through a shared love of culture, including music.” stressed Blinken.
Earlier that day, the US Secretary of State held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. They discussed upcoming contacts with Russia. Stoltenberg stressed the readiness of the North Atlantic Alliance for dialogue within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council.
