The European Union (EU) should sit at the negotiating table on the situation in Ukraine, said the head of the conservative European People’s Party (EVP) faction in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber, on December 31 on the pages of Der Spiegel.
“The EU should sit at the table as the main negotiator for Europe’s future security architecture. We do not have to ask, we have to be a factor of power. But this only works if all EU states have the will to do so and unity reigns, ”Weber said.
Weber assessed as an important step forward that the thread of conversation between the Western state community and the Russian leadership will be renewed.
