The German came off the road on a long left-hand bend on Planseestrasse (L255) for unknown reasons, police said. The 71-year-old was thrown into a stream bed and hit an adjacent stream bed wall. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, he succumbed to his head injuries on the spot.
The victim was travelling with a 73-year-old man, also from Germany. The driver who had the accident and his badly damaged motorcycle were rescued from the stream bed by the fire department. The Plansee road was temporarily completely closed. Three vehicles and 27 emergency personnel from the Reutte volunteer fire department, rescue services including an emergency doctor and the police were on duty.
