The first shipment with a certification of deforestation-free meat was exported to the European Union air route, bound for Italy and Swiss, mostly.
The particularity of this shipment is that it is ahead of the upcoming EU requirements where exports to the old continent must have this certification before January 2025.
Therefore, since FMS, LQSA and Mosaica SA-Golden Sun They saw themselves with the responsibility of responding to their European clients who increasingly demand this type of certifications in the face of the imminent requirement of the bloc’s legislation.
The forestry sector was a pioneer
In mid-April, Uruguay carried out the first pilot export test of deforestation-free chips destined for Portugal. This was reported by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP), through the General Forestry Directorate (DGF) and with support from the Uruguayan Agency for International Cooperation (AUCI).
