The European Union will buy doses of a vaccine against bird flu
Amid the emergence of new cases of bird flu in United States and Australiathe The European Union announced that it signed a “macro contract” that allows it to buy about 665,000 doses of a vaccine which prevents the transmission of the virus to humans.
In a statement, the European Comission (the executive arm of the EU) noted that the contract includes an option for another 40 million additional doses.
These doses will be intended for the “most exposed people” to the possible transmission of avian influenza by poultry or animals, such as farm workers
