Both have many years of experience in the cultural sector and will jointly manage the Alter Schlachthof cultural center in Wels: Anna Rieder and Florian Walter succeed Wolfgang Wasserbauer, who retired in April. Rieder was, among other things, managing director of the youth media festival Youki. Walter has been active in the Waschaecht cultural association since the 1990s.
The two are already working on the anniversary program for 2025, when the slaughterhouse will celebrate its 40th anniversary. They are also planning to revive the skate park on site. “We are taking over a building with an impressive history that enjoys an excellent reputation both regionally and internationally,” says Walter. Rieder emphasizes that in the future they want to appeal to and involve young people from Wels more.
