Israel strikes at Hamas military targets in the Gaza Strip

The Israel Army (IDF) on Sunday, January 2, struck at military targets of the Hamas group in the Gaza Strip. About it reported press service of the IDF.

The military noted that this was in response to the launch of rockets from the Palestinian enclave on Saturday morning.

“When fireworks were fired around the world in honor of the New Year, the terrorists in Gaza started 2022 in a different way – with rocket attacks on Israel. In response, we struck at Hamas terrorist facilities in Gaza: a missile factory and Hamas military posts, ”the statement said.

The Israeli army said that all responsibility for what is happening in the Gaza Strip and the threats emanating from its territory rests with Hamas.

Earlier, on January 1, in the IDF statedthat spotted the launch of two missiles from the Gaza Strip towards the sea, the shells fell off the coast in central Israel. According to the existing protocol, the air raid sirens were not activated and no interception was made.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in September called for solving the problems of peace in the region through the UN. He also declared his support for any proposals for direct negotiations between Palestine and Israel.

On September 15, Israel announced their readiness to make concessions in negotiations with the Palestinians, said the Ambassador of the state to the Russian Federation Alexander Ben Zvi. According to him, there is no desire on the other side to compromise in the negotiations.

The conflict between Palestine and Israel escalated in early May. The riots and protests were provoked by the fact that the Israeli authorities began to evict Arab families in East Jerusalem. On May 10, the radical group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, intervened in the situation.
