The Electoral Court resolved to implement a pilot plan in 553 circuits of Montevideo so that the voter can vote with the fingerprint in the internal elections next Sunday the 30th, based on a scan of it.
To do this, the Vote Receiving Commissions (CRV) selected will have a fingerprint reader that will be connected to a tablet and will allow you to verify whether the voter’s fingerprint corresponds to the one that appears on their electoral sheet.
According to a recent press release in this regard, the only purpose of this procedure is to “perform a first test of software for subsequent evaluation by the Electoral Court”.
Likewise, the state agency clarifies that, since it is a non-binding pilot test, “In no case will the result of said comparison prevent the voter from being able to cast the vote if this corresponds according to current legislation.”
What are the valid documents to vote?
The Electoral Court remembers that the civic credential It is the valid document to vote and those who do not have the physical document will be able to renew it.
However, citizens who do not have the credential On election day, they will be able to vote in the same way, but they must go to the circuit that belongs to them and indicate their first and last name, as well as the series and number of their credential, if they remember it.
For this, people who vote in these circumstances must necessarily appear in the census or in the Court’s notebook of electoral sheets.
How to renew the credential?
To renew the civic credential, it is not necessary to file the complaint for renewal by loss or theft, although it is required to present the old credential, the identity card or any public or private document that contains a photo and in which your full name and surname appear.
The cost of the procedure is 200 pesos, which must be paid in cash and at the time of renewal. At the same time, there is no deadline to complete the procedure, since it can be done at any time and is without an agenda, even if the registration period is closed.
