City Guard: No more night shift from Sunday to Monday

City Guard Ried am Roßmarkt (Streif)

The municipality of Ried has to make savings due to the strained financial situation. A balanced budget was only approved on the third attempt on April 18th. As reported, the Ried city guard has not been spared from the savings either. The municipal council decided to reduce the number of staff – with natural attrition, i.e. impending retirements – to nine people, including the station commander. There are currently eleven people working at the city guard. According to the municipal council resolution of February 29th, night shifts, except for Friday and Saturday nights, are to be eliminated in the medium term.

According to Ried’s city director Peter Eckkrammer, the city guard is currently only unmanned on the night from Sunday to Monday. However, depending on staffing levels, this will change in the foreseeable future. “Good implementation is important. Safety is the top priority,” says Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner.
