The 35-year-old put his foot on a board in Wiesing (Schwaz district) at around 10:05 p.m., under which a pyrotechnic device exploded in a vole hole, reported the Tyrol State Police Directorate. The rescue team took him to the Schwaz District Hospital with serious injuries to his right foot.
The man had placed the firecracker of unknown category in the hole, lit it and covered it with earth, the police reported the 35-year-old’s statement. He had also placed a board on the hole in the ground and weighed it down with his right foot.
