This is the lowest value since July 2021. In May, inflation was still 3.4 percent year-on-year. “In particular, food and fuel prices are currently boosting inflation less than recently,” said Statistics Austria Director General Tobias Thomas in a press release on Tuesday.

Price increases in the catering sector were also lower than in recent months, but “continue to be significantly above average,” explained the head of Statistics Austria. The Harmonized Inflation Rate (HICP) for Austria, calculated for Eurozone comparisons, was 3.2 percent in June, according to a preliminary flash estimate.
